Rohit Sharma is set to lead the Indian team in the upcoming ODI and Test series against West Indies, starting on July 12. Ahead of the series, former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal has delivered a strong message to Rohit.
During the WTC final against Australia at the Oval, Rohit Sharma, current captain of India men’s cricket team scored 15 and 43 runs as India suffered a 209-run defeat. Akmal emphasized the importance for India to perform well in both Test matches against West Indies, emphasizing the need for passion and a strong start. He specifically called on Rohit to improve and emulate Kohli's influential on-field demeanor.
Akmal showered praise on Virat Kohli, hailing him as an all-time great and a brilliant performer. He highlighted Kohli's hunger, on-field presence, and top-class approach, stating that he is the favorite player of many and a source of inspiration for young cricketers.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the squads for the upcoming Tests and ODIs against West Indies, which featured significant changes in the Test team. While young talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad made it into the Test squad, Sarfaraz Khan, who had consistently performed in the Ranji Trophy, was once again left out.
Akmal expressed his belief that it was the right time to include Sarfaraz in the Test squad, emphasizing his consistent performances in the last three seasons of the Ranji Trophy.
